Soon after the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond was created, plans were set in motion to build a permanent home for the Bank. The lot at the corner of 9th and Franklin Streets, across from Richmond’s historic Capitol Square, was purchased and the cornerstone laid on April 13, 1920.
