Wilbur Johnson is managing partner of Young Clement Rivers, a law firm in Charleston, S.C. He is head of litigation and oversees the law firm’s operations, and maintains an active practice, primarily in employment law and administrative and regulatory law.
Johnson previously was a South Carolina assistant attorney general, handling legal matters such as employment, consumer protection and antitrust issues. He also practiced as a staff attorney with Palmetto Legal Services, a legal aid organization.
Johnson is a member of the Fourth Circuit Judicial Conference, the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel, the International Association of Defense Counsel and the American Bar Foundation. He is a past member of the South Carolina Bar House of Delegates and the South Carolina Bar Nominating Committee.
Johnson is involved in civic and charitable organizations, including the Roper Hospital, the Historic Charleston Foundation, the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce and its Port Development Task Force, the Carolina Youth Development Center, the Charleston County Greenbelt Advisory Board, the South Carolina Aquarium, the New Morning Foundation and the International African American Museum Board of Trustees.
After earning a bachelor’s degree from Augusta State University, Johnson earned a law degree from the University of South Carolina.
