Academic Competitions

High School Fed Challenge

The Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond sponsors academic competitions for high school and college students in the Fifth Federal Reserve District.

High School Fed Challenge

In presentations before a panel of judges competing teams are asked to analyze economic conditions and recommend an appropriate course for monetary policy. The teams must also be prepared to answer a variety of questions from the judges about  their presentation and the Federal Reserve .

College Fed Challenge

The College Fed Challenge follows the same format as the high school competition. Students are judged on their analysis of the economic data, their understanding of the Fed, the economy and their work as a team. The competition is held at local and district levels. District winners compete in the national competition at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System.

Student Creative Expression Contest

The Student Creative Expression Contest is open to high school students in grades nine through 12. The Creative Expression Contest is designed to foster innovative approaches to understanding financial and economic concepts.
