Academic Competitions

High School Fed Challenge

The Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond sponsors academic competitions for college students in the Fifth Federal Reserve District.

College Fed Challenge

In presentations before a panel of judges competing teams are asked to analyze economic conditions and recommend an appropriate course for monetary policy. The teams must also be prepared to answer a variety of questions from the judges about their presentation and the Federal Reserve. Students are judged on their analysis of the economic data, their understanding of the Fed, the economy and their work as a team. The competition is held at local and district levels. District winners compete in the national competition at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System.

High School Fed Challenge

The Richmond Fed will no longer participate in High School Fed Challenge. Past participants are encouraged to explore other economic education opportunities and resources offered by the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond.

The Bank has participated in the High School Fed Challenge since 1996 and over the years, the Richmond Fed has presented several National High School Fed Challenge winners and finalists. The decision was a difficult one and we thank you for your past participation. By focusing our efforts on other programs for teachers and students, not only will we be able to continue to promote and provide economic education, but also to expand our efforts.
