The Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond sponsors academic competitions for high school and college students in the Fifth Federal Reserve District.

High School Fed Challenge

In Fed Challenge, competing teams are asked to analyze economic conditions and recommend an appropriate course for monetary policy. The teams make presentations before a panel of judges. The teams must also be prepared to answer a variety of questions from the judges about both their research and general Federal Reserve information.

College Fed Challenge Logo

College Fed Challenge

The College Fed Challenge follows the same format as the high school competition, except team presentations are 20 minutes instead of 15 minutes.

Student Creative Expression Contest

The Student Creative Expression Contest is open to high school students in grades nine through 12. The short story and comic strip divisions give students a chance to write about or illustrate topics related to economics.
