The Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond announces the following officer appointment:
Joan Garton will be promoted to the position of vice president in the Bank's Supervision, Regulation and Credit department, effective March 15, 2011.
Garton joined the Richmond Fed in 1987 as an assistant bank examiner in the consumer affairs area. Over the course of her career, Garton advanced within the department as an examiner and supervisory examiner, becoming an assistant vice president in 2004.
Garton is a native of Baltimore. She earned a B.B.A. degree in finance from James Madison University and is a graduate of the South Carolina Bankers School.
The Richmond Fed serves the Fifth Federal Reserve District, which includes the District of Columbia, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and most of West Virginia.
