Richmond Fed Holding Community Development Week Events in Baltimore

The Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, in collaboration with national, regional, and local partners, is holding several events from June 20-25. The events focus on housing and community financing and are being held at the Bank's Baltimore Branch, located at 502 S. Sharp St.

• June 20 - Land Trusts in Maryland: Learning Through Case Studies, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
  Attendees will learn about a proven tool for creating permanent affordable housing and how it can be applied in communities throughout the state. Participants from across the state will convene to discuss the prospects of four possible affordable housing land trusts in Maryland.

• June 21- Building Bridges: Understanding Faith-Based Financing, 1-5 p.m.
  This pilot training seminar will provide a platform for dialogue between bankers and officials of faith-based organizations to discuss ways both groups can maximize financing opportunities.

• June 23-24 - Advanced Topics in Housing Finance: A Seminar for Habitat Affiliates, 12:30-5 p.m. and 8 a.m.-noon.
  The Federal Reserve Banks of Richmond, New York, Boston, Cleveland and Philadelphia will present a seminar on innovative tools that can support the construction and financing of homes for low-income households. Housing finance experts, Habitat for Humanity International staff and affiliate leaders from the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions will discuss successful Habitat finance models and how to access additional financing and capital markets.

The Richmond Fed is also supporting a foreclosure prevention workshop with U.S. Rep. Elijah Cummings from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. June 25 at Woodlawn Senior High School, 1801 Woodlawn Drive, Gwynn Oak, Md. Homeowners at risk of foreclosure will have the opportunity to discuss mortgage options with housing counselors, attorneys and mortgage lenders.
