Achievements

Wilson is the only President to have earned a doctorate, and he still ranks as the recipient of the most honorary degrees.

1912: Elected President of the United States, campaigning on the "New Freedom", which stressed individualism and states' rights.

1916: Won re-election with slogan, "He kept us out of war."

1920: Received the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts to create the League of Nations.

He became the first American president to be received at Buckinham Palace, have Christmas dinner with American troops on foreign soil, and have an audience with the Pope.

He opened the Panama Canal and started air mail service.
