Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond

Introduction

Financial Reform and the Fed

The recent financial crisis has put the Federal Reserve in the headlines and has inspired much debate about its roles and responsibilities. No doubt, this is due in part to the unconventional actions the Fed has taken to address the financial crisis.

We strongly believe that we are accountable to the American people. We also recognize that we have a system that is complicated. To help you understand our role and the work that we do, we created this special section. We have included information on the issues at the heart of the legislative debate, as well as the Richmond Fed perspective.

We hope these pages provide you with a better understanding of these issues and what we think.
