Community Investment Council

Meet Thomasina Hiers: A Voice for Our Communities

The Richmond Fed not only works on the national scale to help set and regulate monetary policy, but on a local level to strengthen our communities. One way we do that is by working with community partners to identify emerging issues and trends across the Fifth District. In 2011, we established the Community Investment Council, whose members represent unique perspectives on community investment and local economic growth in our District.

Meet Thomasina Hiers, Vice President for Civic Sites and Community Change at the Annie E. Casey Foundation and a member of our Community Investment Program.

Video is temporarily unavailable.

Tomi leads the Baltimore Civic Site’s philanthropy, helping to provide access to economic opportunity and quality education for Baltimore’s youth. Through the partnership with the Richmond Fed, Tomi is able to bring that lens to help think about the quality of our country’s future workforce. How can we help make sure that as young people travel through our schools, they enter the workforce as prepared as possible?

CIC works together to address these and other concerns across our District through research, community investment tools and policies.

We encourage you to meet the rest of our Community Investment Council.
