Kenneth R. Banks is founding president and CEO of Banks Contracting Company, Inc., of Greenbelt, Maryland. The company oversees large commercial construction projects and real estate development in the Baltimore-Washington metropolitan region and internationally. Banks served on the development team for the Science and Technology Park at Johns Hopkins Hospital and the University of Maryland at Baltimore Biotech Park, among other major projects. He has served as the visionary leader of Banks Contracting Company, Inc., since 1980.

Banks actively serves on several boards, including the Maryland Economic Development Commission, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, the University of Maryland Medical Center’s R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, the Governor’s Workforce Investment Board, Greater Baltimore Committee and the University of Maryland School of Medicine.

Banks’ array of philanthropic interests includes the American Cancer Society, Associated Black Charities, Living Classroom Foundation, United Way, the Alzheimer’s Association and Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. He also has served as executive-in-residence at Morgan State University’s Earl G. Graves School of Business and Management to strengthen the relationship between the Graves School of Business and Management Honors Program and the surrounding business community.

Banks earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Adelphi University.
