Director of the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond since 2014
Charles Patton is president and chief operating officer of Appalachian Power, serving customers in West Virginia, Virginia and Tennessee. He has authority for distribution operations and a wide range of customer and regulatory relationships.
Previously, Patton was executive vice president for AEP Utilities West, responsible for the distribution, customer service and financial performance of AEP’s utility operating companies in Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas.
Prior to joining AEP, Patton held leadership positions with the CSW System and Houston Industries/Houston Lighting & Power. He served on the Texas Energy Coordination Council, the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission and the Texas Energy Planning Council.
Patton also has served as chairman of the board of the Association of Electric Companies of Texas and Texas Taxpayers and Research Association, a board member for the Corpus Christi Regional Economic Development Corporation, Del Mar College Foundation, Christus Spohn Health System, and the Coastal Bend United Way. He also has served on the boards of Easter Seals of Central and Southeast Ohio and the Sam Keeton Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
Patton received a bachelor’s degree from Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine, and a master’s degree from the LBJ School of Public Policy at the University of Texas in Austin.
