Tonya S. Scott-Hickman

Tonya S. Scott-Hickman is a 1993 Alumna of Virginia Union University and currently and adjunct professor in the Sydney Lewis School of Business and the Director of Business Development. In the later role Tonya leads the Business Development Unit which is a part of Corporate & External Affairs Division and is tasked with supporting economic development most specifically in the North Richmond through micro and small business development; identifying enterprising opportunities and partnering with MBE's and micro-businesses to scale-up and build the capacity of minority businesses and bring needed services, retail, food and products to underserved communities.

Tonya has been involved professionally in community & economic development for more than 20 years, as the Executive Director of Imani Community Development Corporation; as Regional Director of State social programs to increase low-income residents access to housing, jobs, education and other resources; as well as Operations Manager for a Regional Youth WIOA Workforce Development program.

Tonya holds Master's Degrees from Averett University – Masters of Business Administration and Texas Southern University – Executive Masters of Public Policy.

Tonya is the mother of 4 daughters, and Gigi to 1 grandson.
