Fed History Shared With New Media Tools

By Jim Strader

As part of the commemoration of its centennial, the Federal Reserve has launched two new social media channels to help the public better understand the Fed and its history.

A Twitter feed — @FedHistory — and a Facebook page went online March 29. These two channels will be used in conjunction with social media outlets at Reserve Banks to coordinate messages throughout the period that the Fed is marking this anniversary.

These two sites initially are focusing on the key legislative milestones of a century ago that led to the signing of the Federal Reserve Act in December 1913. As the commemoration continues this year and next, additional archival and interactive materials will be posted on both the Twitter and Facebook feeds.
