Richmond Fed Names 2018 Community Investment Council Chair and New Members

The Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond has named a new chair and three new members to its Community Investment Council.

The incoming chair of the Community Investment Council (CIC) is Deborah McKetty, president and CEO of CommunityWorks (Carolina), a community development financial institution based in Greenville, South Carolina. Chair McKetty has served on the CIC since May 2016.

New members joining the Richmond Fed’s CIC are:

  • Vince Ford, chief community health services officer, Palmetto Health, Columbia, South Carolina.
  • Rochelle Goodwin, senior associate vice president for academic and public strategy, West Virginia University, Morgantown, West Virginia.
  • Thomas Watson, executive director, Rural Support Partners, Asheville, North Carolina.

The Richmond Fed established the 12-member Community Investment Council in 2011 and members serve four-year terms. Council members are chosen from across the Fifth District to represent unique perspectives on community investment and local economic growth that includes workforce, housing, and small business from both rural and urban areas.

As part of our nation’s central bank, the Richmond Fed is one of 12 regional Reserve Banks working together with the Board of Governors to support a healthy economy and deliver on our mission to foster economic stability and strength. We connect with community and business leaders across the Fifth Federal Reserve District — including the Carolinas, District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia, and most of West Virginia — to monitor economic conditions, address issues facing our communities, and share this information with monetary and financial policymakers. We also work with banks to ensure they are operating safely and soundly, supply financial institutions with currency that’s fit for distribution, and provide a safe and efficient way to transfer funds through our nation’s payments system.
