Reemploying Displaced Workers: Lessons from North Carolina

This issue of Community Scope explores the reemployment experience of displaced Pillowtex textile workers in North Carolina following the largest permanent mass layoff in the state’s history. Our study focuses on the assistance strategies and reemployment outcomes in the counties with the largest concentration of displaced workers and highlights the challenges and opportunities involved in the process.
