Elisa Giannone

Elisa Giannone is an economist in the Research Department. Giannone joined the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond in July 2021 and will return to her position as an assistant professor of economics at Penn State University in December 2021. She earned her doctorate from the University of Chicago in 2017. She was a post-doctoral fellow at the International Economics Section at Princeton University in 2017-18 and a research fellow at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago in 2016 and the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis in 2019.

Giannone's research interests include macroeconomics, regional and urban economics, international trade, and development economics. Recent papers explored the aggregate effects of regional differences, both within and across countries, on economic growth and inequality.
