Reginal Bryant Recognized as a 2025 ORBIE Award Winner

On June 27, Reginal Bryant, Richmond Fed senior vice president and CIO, was honored by CapitalCIO with an ORBIE® award in the Large Corporate category.
“It is an honor to be recognized along with other CIOs in the Capital region who are leading strong technology teams for equally impressive organizations,” Reggie shared. “Ultimately, this award acknowledges the dedication, accomplishments and innovation of our Fed IT teams and business partners.”
As Richmond Fed CIO, Reggie leads a team of about 200 in the Bank’s Information Technology Services division, acts as senior executive for the Enterprise Resource Planning Support Office and serves as a member for several technology-focused initiatives at the System level, including but not limited to the Technology Delivery Leadership Committee and the Data Privacy Steering Group.
A proud native of Charleston, South Carolina, Reggie’s interest in technology began when his high school counselor recommended he pursue a degree in technology. Heeding this advice, he went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in computer science from The Citadel and a master’s in management information systems from the University of Maryland. Later, he also completed Harvard Business School’s General Management program.
Before his time at the Fed, Reggie served eight and a half years in the Air Force, during which he worked in IT operations and cybersecurity roles across the United States and Europe, including at the National Security Agency. The breadth and depth of expertise and experience he earned through his education and military service is ultimately what led the Fed to recruit him in 2007 for an enterprise information security manager and advisor role.
Reggie’s advice to those entering the technology field is not surprising given his own path.
“Learn as much as possible through self-study and formal programs but, most importantly, be open to different roles along the way,” said Reggie. “Gain experience in different areas of IT, and with different business lines, and embrace the fact that all career paths are different.”
As one of the Fed’s top technology leaders, Reggie ensures innovation remains a key focus for himself and his teams. He supports the implementation of contemporary technologies such as robotic automation processing and encourages process improvements to discover untapped capabilities to meet business needs.
“We celebrate these achievements throughout the year,” said Reggie. “We encourage the pursuit of innovation, training and upskilling to stay abreast of the latest technology and trends.”
Outside of the Fed, Reggie is an active supporter of community endeavors that focus on education, health and wellness. He is an advisory board member for the Virginia Cyber Security Partnership and regularly lends his time and knowledge to Richmond’s own Virginia Commonwealth University through the school’s Technology Leadership Forum and the Department of Information Systems at the School of Business. He is also a board member for Family Lifeline, which seeks to improve maternal health and parenting through long-term family support services, and The Doorways, which provides lodging and support for patients and their families who need to be close to hospitals.
Well known within the information technology industry, the ORBIE Awards have recognized technology executives for leadership, innovation, and excellence for over 25 years. We’re fortunate to once again have a winner on our Richmond Fed team. Congratulations to Reggie on his well-deserved honor!
