Taking the Reins of Parenthood
More than 4 million children lived in a grandparent-headed household in 2000, a 30 percent increase from 1990. About 13 percent of African-American children find themselves in a similar situation, compared to 7.8 percent of Hispanic children and 4.2 percent of Caucasian children.
