On November 4, 2019, the Richmond Fed hosted its inaugural Investment Connection live event at its Baltimore branch. Eight organizations participated in the event, detailing the problem they want to solve and how their request for funding would be used. Projects included micro-lending for minority or female-owned businesses in low- to moderate-income neighborhoods, digital inclusion and employment training programs to name a few.

Started by the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, Investment Connection brings together nonprofit organizations that have Community Reinvestment Act eligible projects with area funders — banks, CDFIs and foundations.

Investment Connection launched in Virginia June 2, 2020.

“Investment Connection is a unique opportunity — I get to speak to a number of different funders at a time about my passion, providing PCs for everyone who might not be able to afford one. If I were to send an invitation to funders to hear my proposal, maybe one might show up.”
