Bank Hosts Teachers at Board of Governors Event
Teachers from across the nation recently had the opportunity to hear firsthand from Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell about the important role educators play in preparing children for the future. While most of them virtually attended a September 28 Teacher Town Hall hosted by the Board of Governors in Washington, D.C., 10 educators from the Richmond Fed's region participated in person.
Sarah Gunn, the Richmond Fed’s director of Economic Education, and Robin Cappetto from the Board of Governors, moderated the event. Chair Powell answered questions about economics, monetary policy and his personal life, and highlighted the importance of economic literacy, while noting that October is Economic Education Month.
Sarah reflected: "Sitting next to Chair Powell and having him say economic education is necessary for the transmission of monetary policy is something I'll remember for a long time, and Economic Education Month is a great opportunity to broaden its reach."
