Hugo Hopenhayn

Hugo Hopenhayn is a professor of economics at the University of California, Los Angeles. He has been a long-term consultant in the Research Department of the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond since 2021. 

Hopenhayn is a fellow of the Econometric Society and a senior fellow of the Society for the Advancement of Economic Theory. He has received the Guggenheim Fellowship and the Carlos Diaz Alejandro Prize.

Hopenyahn's research spans the fields of industrial organization, macroeconomics, and labor economics. He has joint work with Richmond Fed economist Nicholas Trachter.
