District of Columbia
Payroll employment in the District of Columbia fell by 100 jobs in August. The unemployment rate edged up 0.2 percentage point to 5.7 percent.
Maryland
Maryland payroll employment increased by 2,700 jobs (0.1 percent) in August. The unemployment rate edged up to 2.9 percent.
North Carolina
Payroll employment in North Carolina increased by 4,700 jobs in August (0.1 percent). The unemployment rate increased slightly to 3.8 percent, up 0.1 percentage point from July.
South Carolina
Payroll employment in South Carolina increased by 1,500 jobs (0.1 percent) in August. The unemployment rate rose by 0.4 percentage points to 4.3 percent.
Virginia
Payroll employment in Virginia declined by 5,800 jobs (0.1 percent) in August. The unemployment rate ticked up to 2.8 percent.
West Virginia
West Virginia payroll employment increased by 1,700 jobs (0.2 percent) in August. The unemployment rate was unchanged at 4.2 percent.
