Ann Macheras is group vice president with responsibility for microeconomics and research communications in the Research Department, which includes oversight of the department's regional economics, community development, publications, and economic education groups.
Prior to joining the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond in 2009, Macheras was a senior economist for the Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP), where she managed a research group that analyzed regional economic trends and labor market information in support of VEDP's marketing efforts.
Before that, Macheras worked at Chmura Economics & Analytics as a senior economist and at SunTrust Bank as a regional economist. She has also taught economics at the University of Richmond, Virginia Commonwealth University, and Randolph-Macon College. Macheras earned her doctorate from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1992.
